Lake Powell stands as a vital water resource that serves multiple purposes beyond its recreational value. It plays a significant role in water storage, power generation, and flood control. Over the years, it has become increasingly apparent that maintaining and preserving Lake Powell is essential to align with the evolving needs and realities of our region.
Water supply challenges, compounded by long-term drought conditions, have underscored the importance of strategic water management. The seven states in the Upper and Lower Basin, along with Mexico, are working in close collaboration with the Bureau of Reclamation to navigate water supply complexities. As the reliability of water supply from the Colorado River diminishes, water managers are compelled to explore innovative conservation practices while seeking alternative sources through methods such as recycled water, desalination, and engineered solutions.
Our partnership with the Blue Ribbon Coalition revolves around the shared vision of filling lake Powell. This initiative aims to stabilize and replenish our reservoirs through a comprehensive plan known as the Path to 3588'. By actively supporting their efforts, we believe we can secure the future of Lake Powell and ensure the availability of this invaluable water resource for generations to come.
